Text Box: Interview with Colton Bowler
By Chris Cella

Colton Bowler is a 19 year old amateur MMA fighter out of Las Vegas. Following his third consecutive victory as an amateur, Colton has made the decision to turn professional. He currently trains under Richard Vadnais at Suffer in Las Vegas. He recently spoke with Cage and Ring Fan to discuss his future as a MMA fighter.

Following another dominating victory, you showed you have truly progressed into a complete and versatile MMA fighter. You’re dominant in both stand up and ground game. Have there been any changes/additions to your training regime which have made you improve so greatly?

I switched over to training with Richard Vadnais and Suffer. I have been working on stand up a lot with Richard. He points out all flaw and shows me how to do it right.

Was this last fight your final amateur fight? If so, when do you expect to get into the cage for your first pro fight?

Yes. We have been talking about my first professional fight being in either July or August, September at latest.

What’s your biggest motivation for becoming a pro fighter? I speak to a lot of fighters, and some have dreams of being world champ one day, while others do it just for the love of it. Being only 19 and skilled in MMA, what do you hope to achieve as a pro?

I want to be the best in the world at what I do

What’s the biggest thing on your mind about making the transition to becoming a professional MMA fighter?
I’ve never trained to be a pro before, and since there are different rules regarding what’s allowed and such, that’s my biggest concern. I’ve been training with a lot of ankle locks and the stuff we can’t do in amateur so I’m ready to learn and get it down for when I fight as a pro. Ultimately I’m focusing on all aspects to become a better fighter.

How many years until we see you fighting for the title?
Fighting for a title one day and becoming the best is one of my goals. I am going to train like an Olympic athlete and within four years you’ll see me fighting for a title.

Shout outs?
Suffer, all my teammates and trainers; www.coachbuck.com, and Richard Vadnais helps me out a lot. More than any coach ever has.
